Beverly Barnes Retires after 38 Years of Service

Beverly Barnes, Office Manager and Assistant Board Meeting Secretary for Premier Select Sires, retires December 31, 2024 after 38 years of service. Please join us in thanking her for her contributions and dedication to our cooperative!

Beverly began working part time with TABA Select Sires (a preceding cooperative of Premier) in 1986, then began a full-time role in 1993. Seeing the cooperative through three mergers over the years, she has worked in all aspects of Sales Support and Customer Support. She has been an integral part of the Beef Sales Representative (BSR) program since its inception in 2011. Beverly has served the Board of Directors as Assistant Board Meeting Secretary as well, and she plans to continue in this role even after retirement.

“I have lived on a farm my whole life, so working at Premier has felt like home to me,” said Beverly. “It is a huge blessing to work for a company that feels like family, and I am especially thankful for the working relationships and lifelong friendships I have made along the way. I love working with the Board of Directors and am fortunate to continue that on a part-time basis.”

Many Premier employees and customers, wherever they are from in Premier’s 23-state territory, have commented that Beverly is a patient, friendly, knowledgeable voice on the other end of the phone who is always willing to help in any way she can.

“Beverly Barnes, or ‘Miss Beverly’ as many of us call her, will be greatly missed by our employees, customers, and vendors,” said Mark Carpenter, CEO of Premier Select Sires. “Her dedication to our cooperative guided her approach to work and relationships, and that commitment has made our cooperative and everyone that worked with her better. She set the standard of exceptional service in all that she touched, and those attributes have set an example of what excellence should be for everyone that follows. We are blessed to have called Miss Beverly a colleague and even more to call her a friend. We wish her the very best of health, happiness, and prosperity in retirement.”

In retirement, Beverly hopes to spend more time with grandchildren, travel, read, and volunteer at her church.

To her colleagues, Beverly says, “We have a strong team at Premier. Make every effort to get to know your team. Go the extra mile—to help each other and to help our customers. It has been a real pleasure to work with you all!”

Thank you, Beverly, for all you have brought to our cooperative!
